blog it, blog it good

Shasta said it was my turn to update the blog when I told her it had been forever since she had done anything with it. So here goes my first blog post.
We stayed home from church today because we fasted and bore our testimonies last week and I went to EFY with the young men yesterday so we figured that we could bank on that, plus Avani was "burping" as she calls it. I call it barfing.
We watched this movie called "fireproof" my mom had recommended. It was pretty good, it stars Kirk Cameron who some of you may remember from the show "Growing Pains" It was a christian movie about marriage, but it was definitely a very good message. You can get it out of the red box and I would recommend it to all who are married or may become married.
Avani has been really cute and cuddly lately while she hasn't been feeling well. She really is becoming a great communicator and that definitely helps us help her. It is nice for her to be able to tell us what is wrong, rather than having to guess.
We had an incredibly busy week at the restaurant. We had this 20th birthday celebration promotion where there were some pretty good deals and people really responded. It was kinda rough though because we weren't expecting to get such an incredible response, so there were definitely some wrinkles that had to be ironed out. Shasta and I ended up driving up to Provo and back on Wednesday to pick up food and supplies and our newly repaired microwave (which broke down again the next day). We were going through food in one day equivilent to what we had been doing in 3 days in the past couple weeks. We also started the school lunch catering for the charter school as well. It has started slow with only 18 lunches our first day and now we are up to just under 50, so hopefully it will continue to grow for us.
I went up to SLC with Bob this week and went skiing up at Deer Valley. Bob had the sweet hook ups for lift tickets, normally they are $84. It was my first time up this year and the second time I have tried skiing since switching to snowboarding about 15 years ago. It was pretty rough, but lots of fun. Bob took me down some steep stuff, but we mostly stayed on the more tame intermediate runs for my sake. Man am I out of shape, I thought I would be pretty sore, but it turned out okay. That night we stayed at the Marriott, Karsten hooked us up with a discounted room. The next guy who checked in after us paid $169 for his room. We headed over to PF Changs for some apres ski grub. It was very good stuff, tuna, orange peel chicken, garlic snow peas, chicken lettuce wraps and some curry singapore noodles which I recommend; although it is hard to beat the Mongolian Beef. We then took a stroll up to the "Delta Center" I refuse to call it Energy Solutions. We were looking to get a deal from some scalped tickets to the Jazz/Dallas game. After some very shrewed negotiations and almost purchasing some tix some guy gave us some cheap tix for free nosebleeds, but still in for free is good. We enjoyed the first half from upperdeck behind the basket seats, but second half we went down below to sit with Cory, Mike, Chris and Jordan Whetman. They had some sweet seats on the 11 row behind the Dallas bench. We had a good time heckling the players and Mark Cuban. Jazz won big time which was cool for me, but Cory and Mike are Mavs fans.
After the game we went around to the back where the players leave. Cory wanted to see if he could get his new Nowitzki jersey signed. He ran into some trouble with a drunken Jazz fan after some friendly banter, the drunk started with the f bombs and "lets go!" crap. It was funny because he was with his girlfriend and we had 6 guys, plus it was right in front of the Security guards. There were lots of little kids etc so we kindly invited him to keep moving.
It was a memorable day.
